Some marsupials live on land, some in trees. There are marsupials that run, some that hop, and others that move in a slow graceful manner. What places these animals into the classification as a marsupial is not their outward features or how they live. Their common characteristic is how their young are born and raised, a unique feature that separates these animals from all other mammals.
