In centuries past, species became endangered due to natural occurrences such as earthquakes and the events during the Ice Age. In modern times, the number one affect on wild species is humans. Although natural events take a toll on animal populations, human ignorance and indifference are destroying colonies of animal species that are needed to keep a natural balance in the environment.
