The Havana rabbit breed began in the Netherlands in 1898 with a brilliant color not seen before in other breeds. This chocolate colored Havana would set the standards for the Havana rabbit breed that was introduced into the United States and accepted by the American Rabbit Breeder's Association (ARBA) in 1916.
