The beginner horse is not about the breed, it is about the horse and its history. Many horse breeds are described as well tempered or trustworthy but there are always exceptions to the rule. The Shetland pony has been described as an easy natured pony and wonderful for a child's first horse but even these small ponies can have bad days and the scar on my chest can attest to that fact.
